Canaries 14 day adventure
This adventure is suitable for all, but particularly inspiring for those interested in barefoot navigation and gaining sea miles towards an RYA Yachtmaster qualification. Experience the thrill and challenge of an offshore voyage, and open your eyes to the beauty and satisfaction of celestial navigation.

After arrival in Gibraltar on Saturday evening and  a safety brief on board our ocean going yacht Pacific Star, you will meet and greet your fellow adventurers. On Sunday, we depart on our non-stop passage to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands.

En route you will form part of a watch system and be fully involved in the sailing of the yacht, preparation of crew meals and everything else that keeps the boat sailing and your shipmates shipshape!  You will also be able learn the rudiments of navigation the traditional way from the stars, planets, moon and sun. It hopefully won’t all be hard work lashed to the helm, off-watch you will still to be able relax in the cockpit or saloon or indulge in a bit of fishing in the hope of landing a few tasty meals - nothing beats landing, cooking and eating your own freshly caught fish!

If you’ve never sailed a yacht in the open ocean at night, you will be awestruck at the beauty of the many constellations and galaxies, in fact you will lose count of the number of shooting stars you see! Then there is the fascination of seeing the continual phosphorescence, the phenomena of luminescent micro-organisms that light up the sea. This route also invariably brings us in to contact with a host of marine wildlife and other natural phenomena most of us have only seen on natural history programs.

Arrival in Lanzarote at Puerto Calero on the Eastern coast of the most northerly island of the Canaries, will be on Thursday, giving two full days to relax and explore the island before we head back to sea.

Puerto Calero is a superbly appointed marina with excellent facilities, a large selection of shops, bars and restaurants (link to McSorleys, the Catalanza). A taxi ride away is Puerto del Carmen with plenty of clubs for a spot of night clubbing Lanzarote itself has plenty to see and do, it has an amazing volcanic landscape and a visit to the Timanfaya National Park is well worth a visit. We can also arrange to visit one of the local wineries to sample the wine and El Grifo Wine Museum.

Having rested, recuperated and re-provisioned, the return leg begins!
* All trips are for a minimum of four people. Destinations and schedules are very much dependent upon weather conditions, and may be altered at short notice. The rates quoted include all marina and mooring fees, all accommodation, meals and drinks whilst at sea, (meals not included when shoreside), the services of a skipper and crew. The provision of all bedding, safety and wet weather clothing is also included, as is the full use of all on-board yacht resources. The rates do not include air flights, transfers or evening meals within marinas. Please note that a 20% single supplement will apply to both forward cabins with ensuite facilities.
